Build Phase

AeroBarrier can be installed in various stages of the build / renovation process.

Before Hanging Drywall

The ideal time to apply AeroBarrier is before the drywall is in place. After all penetrations to the outside envelope are complete (i.e. Electrical, Plumbing, etc) AeroBarrier can be applied to ensure envelope is sealed.

After Hanging Drywall

If drywall is already in place; no problem. AeroBarrier can be applied after the drywall is in place and before the floors are installed. You will still be able to achieve the same results as applying prior to drywall install. The only change is that if additional cuts are made to the drywall after AeroBarrier application, it will be necessary to ensure the gap between device (i.e. new electrical outlet, or new piping penetration) is caulked to eliminate the air leakage from inside the home to behind the drywall.

Renovations

AeroBarrier can be applied during renovation projects as well. The main difference between renovations and installing after drywall is installed in a new construction home is that existing furniture and floors will need to be covered and taped to protect from the AeroBarrier glue. This adds some additional labor expense for the additional preparation
